Nadine Fähndrich suffered during the 10 km pursuit in classic style in Val Müstair, 2nd stage of the Tour de Ski. The winner of the previous day’s sprint finished in 9th place.
Now 8th overall, the Lucernoise resisted perfectly during the 1st half of the course, letting go at the start of the 3rd of the 4 loops. Still 6th – 17”3 from the lead – following 6.2 km, she finally conceded 1’03”5 to the winner, the Norwegian Tiril Weng, who offers herself a 1st individual victory in the World Cup .
Nadine Fähndrich will try once more to limit damage during the 3rd and 4th stages of this Tour, Tuesday and Wednesday in Oberstdorf. The last 3 stages will take place in the Val di Fiemme, with in particular a sprint in which she will seek to shine on Friday and the climb of Alpe Cermis next Sunday.
Klaebo doubles down
Already winner of the sprint the day before in Tschierv, Johannes Hösflot Klaebo also won the pursuit over 10 km in classic style, 2nd stage of the Tour de Ski. The Norwegian won with a margin of 10”2 over his runner-up and compatriot Paal Golberg.
Best Swiss, Jonas Baumann completed this pursuit in 37th position with a delay of 1’54”4 on the winner and big favorite of this Tour de Ski. Respectively 7th and 9th in the sprint, Janik Riebli and Valerio Grond suffered: the first was ranked 72nd, while the second retired. Candide Pralong finished 41st.
