The Zurich cantonal police are warning of a new phishing scam in which fraudsters promise victims an Apple Vision Pro. Under time pressure, victims are asked to fill out a supposed survey and provide their credit card details.
Curiosity and interest in the latest gadgets are currently gripping many people once more. The Apple Vision Pro recently came onto the market and, as with other new products, many people want to know more regarding what the thing can do. Fraudsters regularly take advantage of this curiosity when a new console or sought-following piece of hardware comes onto the market.
On their portal Cybercrimepolice.ch Zurich canton police are now warning of a new phishing scam. In this case, the email begins with “Congratulations! Be the first to test the new Vision Pro.” The scammers ask their potential victims to fill out a survey so that they can secure one of the coveted Vision Pros. The crooks set a deadline in order to put even more pressure on their victims, as the cantonal police continue to write. After a few questions regarding interest in VR technology, victims are asked to provide their credit card details in order to “fully” register.
The Zurich Canton Police recommend ignoring such phishing emails and never accessing login functions via links sent by email. Those affected should inform their financial institution and file a report with the local cantonal police.
Speaking of which: In another phishing scam, crooks are trying to get login details for Steam accounts from Counter Strike 2 gamers. These accounts can be very valuable due to so-called skins. More on this read here.
