Former Argentine President Cristina Kirchner (2007-2015) testifies as a victim in Buenos Aires this Wednesday, in the trial against those accused of the attempted murder of her on September 1, 2022.
“Tomorrow I will go to testify at the oral trial against the perpetrators of the attempted murder of me on September 1, 2022. The intellectual authors and the financiers? Fine, thank you. They sleep protected by Comodoro Py (federal courts),” Kirchner wrote on his X account on Tuesday.
The former president has repeatedly criticised the fact that the courts are not looking for the alleged “intellectual authors” and “financiers” of the assassination attempt. This will be the first time that Kirchner is in the same courtroom as the three people who are being tried for the failed attack.
Fernando Sabag (37) claims that he pulled the trigger of a pistol that was a few centimeters from the head of the then vice president (2019-2023). Supposedly the weapon failed and did not fire.
The trial, which is expected to last between six and 12 months, focuses on the attacker, his ex-girlfriend and their employer as street vendors, without addressing alleged ideologues or possible financial backers. These two parties are part of a separate case that is still under investigation.
