Cristina joins the repudiation against Alberto Fernández

The former president of Argentina Cristina Fernández referred this Friday to the complaint made by former first lady Fabiola Yáñez against former president Alberto Fernández for sexist violence and declared that “misogyny, machismo and hypocrisy do not have a party flag.”

“Misogyny, machismo and hypocrisy, pillars on which verbal or physical violence against women is based, do not have a party flag and permeate society at all levels,” Fernández wrote in X.

Cristina described that the photos of Yáñez being beaten, published by the local press, “not only show the beating received, but also reveal the most sordid and dark aspects of the human condition,” says EFE.

The former president began her message by saying that “Alberto Fernández was not a good president” and emphasized that, although this has been the case of many heads of state in Argentine history, the images released last night “are something else.”
In the photos, Yáñez is seen with bruises on various parts of her body that “allow us to dramatically verify the situation of a woman in any relationship, whether it takes place in a palace or a hut.”

“Personally and as a woman who has been the object (and continues to be) of the worst verbal and political violence, to the maximum experience of physical violence, such as the assassination attempt on September 1, 2022, I express my solidarity with all women victims of any type of violence.”

Cristina’s statements, who during her time as vice president did not have a good relationship with Alberto Fernández, come three days after Yáñez’s complaint became known, which coincided with a trip to Mexico by the former president.
