A man was arrested this Thursday in Argentina for pointing a firearm at Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner when he arrived home in the midst of a crowd of supporters, a week after the Prosecutor’s Office requested his arrest for alleged corruption.
The image of the man who points to Kirchner’s head when she gets out of the car that took her to her residence was reproduced by various TV channels.

Minister Aníbal Fernández reported on the arrest of the man on Thursday night, when the also president of the Senate was returning from Parliament to her home in the Recoleta neighborhood of Buenos Aires.
“A person who is indicated by those who are close to him shows a weapon and is detained by custody personnel, they move him away, the weapon is found. Now the situation has to be analyzed by our scientific people to evaluate the traces and the capacity and disposition that this person had,” the minister told C5N.
The man approached Kirchner in the middle of the crowd that was waiting for her to greet her and ask her to sign his autobiographical book. She pointed the gun at him but it did not fire.

In the midst of growing polarization, hundreds of militants have gathered since last week at the home of Kirchner, 69, accused of corruption during her government (2007-15) and against whom the Prosecutor’s Office requested a 12-year prison sentence. imprisonment and lifelong disqualification.

According to government sources consulted by La Nación, the man who pointed the gun could be identified as Fernando Andres Sabag Montiel, a 35-year-old citizen of Brazilian nationality.
