Former Manchester United star and Portugal national team Cristiano Ronaldo joined the Saudi club Al-Nasr as part of a deal that extends to 2025.
And the club’s official account on the Internet published a picture of the player holding the club’s shirt and commented on it, “The greatest athlete in the world officially signs the world,” which is the title of the Saudi club.
Ronaldo has been considered a free soccer player since he left the ranks of United, once morest the background of a press interview in which he criticized the English club.
It is scheduled that Ronaldo will receive the largest wage for a football player in the history of the game, as his financial dues amount to 177 million pounds annually.
Musli Al Muammar, President of Al-Nasr Club, said: “This deal is greater than writing a new historical chapter. This player is a higher example for all athletes and youth in the world, and with his presence in Al-Nasr, we will move forward to achieve more successes for the club, Saudi sports and future generations.”
The 37-year-old Portuguese star said he was eager “to have a new experience in a new football league in a different country”.
Ronaldo added, “I am lucky because I have won everything I wanted to win in European football, and I feel that this is the right moment to start transferring my experiences to Asia.”
The Saudi club Al-Nasr, which won the Saudi League title nine times, described the Ronaldo deal as a “history-making” for the club.
The club said the deal would “inspire the league, the nation, generations to come, boys and girls to always be the best”.
And Ronaldo rejected an offer to move to the Saudi football club Al-Hilal at a value of 305 million pounds last summer, stressing that he was happy to be in the ranks of Manchester United.
And last November, the Portuguese striker spoke to broadcaster Piers Morgan on “Tok TV”, in which he said that he felt “betrayed” by the English club, and that he did not respect material coach Eric ten Hag, which were the statements that led to his dismissal.
Ronaldo scored 145 goals in 346 matches for Manchester United, then left the ranks of Italian Juventus to return once more to Old Trafford in August 2021, regarding 11 years following leaving Real Madrid, Spain.
Ronaldo’s contract with Man United was set to expire following seven months, according to which he received 500,000 pounds a week, but his immediate departure from the English club came “by agreement of the two parties.”
One day following his decision to leave the club, a decision was issued to stop Ronaldo from two domestic matches following he dropped a phone from an Everton fan following United’s defeat at Goodison Park last April.
And the former European football star will implement the suspension decision at the local level with any new club he joins – whether in England or abroad – although the suspension does not apply at the continental level, such as the suspension decisions in the European Champions League.
