Another game that caught our attention at this year’s IndieDevDay was Vermila Studios’ upcoming survival horror Crisol: Theater of Idols. The game is unique in that it draws heavily from Spanish folklore, and it features a mechanic where your blood is used for health and ammo. We had the chance to catch up with David Carrasco, CEO and co-founder of Vermila Studios, during the event, and we asked him regarding the game’s lore and survival horror elements. We asked Carrasco why he felt Spanish folklore had not featured so much in the game until recently. He told us: “I think one of the main reasons why Spain hasn’t been pushed is because the market isn’t mature enough. So they’re afraid of pushing a culture that might not be as well-known as the UK or the US. So recently, they’ve seen that it’s very deep and can be used in There are many aspects to take advantage of. When asked how the game’s survival horror will bring excitement, Carrasco said: “We are survival horror, so we use horror as a narrative element. He continued: “It takes you on a rollercoaster of tension, and it’s not a series of jump scares; it’s a good mix of puzzles, action and narrative. At the same time, a key element of the game is that it’s necessary to regain health.” Blood is also used to reload weapons. Crisol: Theater of Idols is scheduled to launch at an unconfirmed date in 2025. You can check out the full interview below:
