Amazon, considered one of the private companies with the most workers on staff (1.6 million people), has seen its growth stall in 2022.
According to international media, Amazon has decided to cut 100,000 jobs worldwide, a decision that is considered unprecedented in its history and that would be understood as a preparation for a recession.
And it is that the company recently reported that it registered a net loss of US$2 billion between January and June 2022.
Thus, the e-commerce giant announced in turn that they are trying to minimize some excessive costs of the massive expansion they had during the covid-19 pandemic. Precisely, one of those “excesses” would be the massive hiring of workers.
For his part, the financial director of Amazon, Brian Olsavsky, told international media that the company is slowing down its expansion plans for this year and the next, in order to better adjust to customer demand.
