This week, in addition, the CSIRT identified another phishing campaign with a fraudulent email that aims to defraud BancoEstado customers.
In recent hours, the Government’s Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) issued an alert following detecting that a new phishing campaign via email, whose targets are the customers of the Chile bank.
In that campaign, they indicated, “criminals falsely indicate to the victim who increased online” the limit of his card and/or line of credit.
They then call clicking on a link.
“The victim, of pressing the link, is directed to a fake site, similar to Banco de Chile, and thus the attacker obtains their credentials”explained the CSIRT in its report.
This fraud was classified as “high risk” and the call to users is to verify the senders and not open links of dubious origin, even more so if they later request to enter confidential information such as passwords.
Also this week, the CSIRT identified another phishing campaign with a fraudulent email that pretends to be from BancoEstado.
General cybersecurity recommendations
-Do not open emails or messages of dubious origin.
-Distrust links and files in messages or mail.
-Keep your platforms updated (Office, Windows, Adobe Acrobat, Oracle Java and others).
-Be skeptical regarding offers, promotions or incredible prizes that are offered online.
-Pay attention to the details of messages or social networks.
-Evaluate the preventive blocking of commitment indicators.
-Keep updated all technology and threat detection platforms.
-Review the security controls of AntiSpam and SandBoxing.
-Create permanent awareness for users regarding this type of threat.
-View the websites that are entered are the official ones.
