Criminal lawyer Jean-Louis Pelletier is dead

The criminal lawyer and great figure of the bar Me Jean-Louis Pelletier died at 86, learned The world Tuesday, October 11 by information from the Association of Criminal Lawyers (ADAP), of which he was one of the founders.

“Immense penalist, lord of the assizes, he was generous and deliciously approachable for the young colleagues”, writes the association in a tweet.

Mentor of many tenors of the bar, including the current Minister of Justice, Eric Dupond-Moretti, Me Jean-Louis Pelletier was notably the lawyer for Jacques Mesrine, Philippe Maurice and even “Francis le Belge”.

In Aix-en-Provence, where he started, Me Jean-Louis Pelletier has twice experienced death penalty verdicts and twice obtained presidential pardons for convicts, from General de Gaulle in 1965 and from François Mitterrand in 1981.
