When the icy January night comes to an end, so does Finn’s life. In the film “Winterherz” (today, 8:15 p.m., 3sat), the boy died alone on the bench in a bus stop. During the night, the drunk 17-year-old was hit by a car.
The drunken driver Maxim (Franz Pätzold), a prospective judge, did not take him to the hospital against the will of his wife Sylvie (Laura de Boer) – for the benefit of his career. From the one decision for the wrong thing, the crime drama (director: Johannes Fabrick, book: Susanne Schneider) develops a pull that pulls you into emotional places that are darker than you could have ever thought when you turned it on. Leaden “What would have happened if?” questions move you further into a tragedy, which becomes an unbearable burden for Finn’s brother, police officer Mike (Anton Spieker): What if he had picked up Finn’s call that night? The salvation of the whole family (Ulrike Kriener as Renata’s mother, Bernhard Schütz as Peter’s father) is bulldozed.
The “absolutely evil” Maxim could have used some gray areas. Otherwise, “Winterherz” was a wonderful substitute for everyone who no longer wanted to see “Tatort” repeats in the summer.
