After being postponed for 24 hours due to the need for additional checks, SpaceX finally launched its seventh manned flight to the International Space Station (ISS) this Saturday morning (26). The forecast is that the astronauts will arrive at their destination on Sunday (27), following just under 30 hours of flight.
Check out the video below. The take-off procedure starts around 1h of video.
On board the Crew Dragon Endurance capsule, the Crew-7 crew is made up of a very diverse group, with representatives from 4 different space programs: the Iranian-American Jasmin Moghbeli, for NASA, the Danish Andreas Mogensen, for the European Space Agency ( ESA), Japanese Satoshi Furukawa, for the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), and Russian Konstantin Borisov, for Roscosmos, the Russian space agency.
“SpaceX, thanks for the trip. It was amazing. We may have four crew on board from four different countries, Denmark, Japan, Russia and the United States, but we are a united team with a common mission”, said Jasmin Moghbeli, commander of Crew-7, at SpaceX launch control.
With forecast to dock on the ISS for Sunday at 9:50 am (Brasília time), the 4 crew members will have the Space Station as their home and place of work for the next 6 months. During the period, the group should conduct more than 200 scientific experiments, among new studies and research already in progress, in addition to performing maintenance at the station as part of Expeditions 69 and 70.
Being SpaceX’s eighth astronaut mission for NASA (seven operational flights and one manned test flight) and the company’s 11th manned mission overall, Crew-7’s original launch was scheduled for Friday (25), but it was postponed, taking off at 4:27 am on Saturday (26).
