A 12-year-old girl experienced moments of terror at noon on Sunday (01.09.2024) in Crete, when a stranger took her in his arms in the sea. Despite the harassment, the 12-year-old girl kept her cool and was saved.
It all happened when the 12-year-old along with her family went to the beach of Kokkinos Pyrgos in Crete to enjoy their swim. Little did they know that the carefree dips would turn into such unpleasant moments because of the harassment the child experienced.
While the 12-year-old was coming out of the water after a long swim and with her eyes closed, she felt someone lift her in her arms, according to cretalive.gr.
Then she quickly wiped her eyes and saw a dark-skinned man holding her back and legs and holding her in his arms.
The child in a state of shock “took advantage” of the presence of a woman where he was in the sea and began to swim quickly towards land.
Arriving on land, the little girl revealed what she had experienced to her parents and burst into tears.
Panic immediately ensued with the parents demanding an explanation from the man.
After a police investigation, it turned out that he is a 30-year-old Egyptian who has been working in Crete for the last two years.
The man claimed that he would never mind the child since he is the father of two young children who are in Egypt and sends them money. In his testimony he added that if he wanted to harm the 12-year-old, he would not have done it on a beach that is full of people.
The 30-year-old was found guilty of the charge of sexual indecency and given an eight-month suspended prison sentence. He appealed against the conviction.
