Comunicaciones FC put its qualification for the quarterfinals of the Concacaf Central American Cup on track with its 2-1 victory over Marathón on the night of August 14 at the Cementos Progreso stadium.

In a duel that in the preview foreshadowed a meeting between the forward Juan Luis Anangonó and his former team, the one who had the floor was the new striker and star of Comunicaciones: Diego Casas.

The Uruguayan striker has made Comunicaciones not miss the Ecuadorian. In the National League Casas has already scored two goals in 117 minutes combined and in the Central American Cup it only made its debut tonight.

The Comunicaciones team was better for much of the match, but the victory was about to disappear when at 63′ Fredy Pérez let a shot from Axely Vega slip away which complicated the final minutes for the home team.

The one who paved the way for the cream victory was Azarías Londoño when he scored via penalty after a foul committed by Javier Rivera on Gerardo Gordillo.

Everything continued well for Comunicaciones and at minute 45+2 Diego Casas increased the lead.

Everything seemed to indicate that the white team would take the comfortable victory until in the 63rd minute everything became complicated when Alexy Vega made a shot that did not carry much danger but Fredy Pérez did not control the ball and it ended up in the back of his goal.

The following minutes were tense as Comunicaciones was saved several times from conceding another goal, but in the end the score did not change.
