Credit Suisse sells its historic building in Geneva for 200 million francs – rts.ch

The bank Credit Suisse has sold its historic Geneva building on Place Bel-Air for 200 million francs to the Turidomus investment foundation as part of a sale-leaseback transaction.

The Zurich establishment, in full restructuring, will remain a tenant thanks to a long-term contract. The operation was carried out by the real estate company SPGI Geneva, reported Le journal de l’immobilier, a supplement to the daily Le Temps.

The 8,200 square meter building, located at the corner of rue du Rhône and rue de la Monnaie in Geneva, is particularly dedicated to administrative activities.

Biggest deal in the township

“It is a priori the largest transaction in the canton which concerns a single property”, said Thursday Sandra Claudia Andres, head of the investment department at SPGI. The call for tenders launched for this sale has aroused “remarkable interest” from regional, national and international companies, continued the property manager.

According to her, the location in the hypercentre and the recent renovation of the building (2015-2016) explain the enthusiasm of buyers for this property. This building, which is connected to the GéniLac network, a heating and cooling system operating with water from Lake Geneva, also meets Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) criteria.

Credit Suisse gives few details

Asked by the AWP agency on Thursday regarding the circumstances of this sale, a spokesperson for Credit Suisse simply indicated that the bank “regularly reviews its real estate portfolio as part of its overall real estate strategy. We do not disclose the details of the transactions. individuals,” he added.

The company Pensimo Management, manager of Turidomus, for its part confirmed that its investment foundation had “recently acquired a building from Credit Suisse in Geneva”, without giving further details.
