The liquid contains carbon dioxide. If you take Coca-Cola, you have regarding 3.8 L of dissolved carbon dioxide per liter of drink. This gas is compressed so hard that it is dissolved in the liquid. The gas is liquid. As soon as the container is opened, the gas escapes. Most of it escapes through what is called free diffusion degassing through the surface of the liquid. You can’t see it, there are no bubbles. There is then a small part left, say 20% of potential bubbles. These bubbles are created by impurities, asperities of the container. The more impurities, the more bubbles there will be.
