The film Catatan Harian Menantu Sinting from the production house Soraya Intercine Films will be shown simultaneously in cinemas throughout Indonesia starting July 18, 2024. The film stars Raditya Dika, Ariel Tatum, and a number of other actors and actresses.

In a press release, Monday (15/7), the film Catatan Harian Menantu Sinting is an adaptation of the novel of the same title by Rosi L Simamora.

Directed by Sunil Soraya, Catatan Harian Menantu Sinting has finally been officially completed following a production process of more than five years.

“It took more than five years to complete this story, it is not easy to translate a novel story into a visual film because every inch of a scene is very calculated,” said Sunil.

Diary of a Crazy Son-in-Law is a story that is very close to everyday life, especially in the lives of the Batak people.

The film tells the story of the problems of a new couple named Sahat (Raditya Dika) and Minar (Ariel Tatum) who live with their in-laws (Lina Marpaung).

The young couple lived their days full of love and affection. However, their happy days slowly began to be tested when the in-laws did not allow the couple to move house before giving him a grandson.

Will they succeed in making their in-laws’ dreams come true?

According to the film’s director, almost all couples in Indonesia may experience the same thing when they are newly married and choose to live with their parents or in-laws.

The process of living with parents or in-laws following marriage is what Sunil highlights in the film Catatan Harian Menantu Sinting.

Ariel Tatum and Raditya Dika as the main actors in the film were willing to read and study the script for more than five months before the filming process began.

This was done as a form of their seriousness in exploring their respective characters. In fact, both of them experienced a significant transformation of style and character to match the description of the expected character.

For example, Raditya Dika who had to change his walking style to be similar to the character Sahat. There is also Ariel Tatum who changed her body style to match the character Minar she plays.
