Contrary to popular expectations, Activision Blizzard revealed at the past The Game Awards no new main branch of Crash Bandicoot. Instead, with Crash Team Rumble announced a multiplayer game in which teams of four compete against each other and maneuver the Wumpa fruits into their own dropping location. Crash Team Rumble will be released on June 20th, 2023 for the PC, Xbox One and Series X | S as well as for the PlayStation 4 and 5. A release on the Nintendo Switch did not seem planned so far – but this could change soon.
Did Activision’s support page pre-empt an announcement?
Shortly before the launch of Crash Team Rumble on the official support page from Activision on Crash Team Rumble spotted an interesting discovery. For a successful installation of the game, it is recommended to bring your own hardware system up to date before downloading. Interestingly, there is also the Nintendo Switch als Plattform listed, although Crash Team Rumble is not actually supposed to appear for Nintendo’s hybrid.
The support page could possibly have preempted an official announcement – on the other hand, it could also be a simple error. A Nintendo Switch version of Crash Team Rumble doesn’t seem entirely outlandish. After all, Activision published with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time the full Crash Bandicoot main series on the Nintendo Switch in the past.
