After the falls of Jason Anderson (Kawasaki), Cooper Webb (KTM), Chase Sexton (Honda) and Dylan Ferrandis (Yamaha), championship leader Eli Tomac was able to keep himself harmless and clearly move up the table with a win.
10th round of the US Supercross Championships at Ford Field in Detroit (Michigan): Twistet Tea Suzuki Pilot Justin Bogle won the Holeshot to the final and led up to the third round before Justin Weather in Barcia (GASGAS) took over the reins. Jason Anderson (Kawasaki) on P4 started, gradually fought his way forward and caught the injured one Weather in Barcia off in round 6. Malcolm Stewart (Husqvarna) had to move up from the middle field following a bad start and made it onto the podium halfway through the race.
In the last third of the final, things went haywire: Red Bull KTM works driver Cooper Webb took a double jump too far early in the rhythm section, landed on top of next hill, got compressed and fell. The one driving right behind him Chase Sexton (Honda) didn’t stand a chance and crashed Webb together and also fell. Both drivers looked dazed. The Jersey of Sexton was completely torn. Webbholding his arm, tried though to continue, but he might no longer hold the handlebars. Also for Sexton the race was over.
Slipped on lap 17 Jason Anderson (Kawasaki) fell over the front wheel in the right-hand bend following the finish jump and hit his head hard. He also tried first to continue, but had to realize that he mightn’t finish the race. Also the French one Yamaha-factory driver Dylan Ferrandis fell following a jump and had to give up the race with a sore wrist. Even Marvin Muskin (KTM) crashed in a right turn over the front wheel, but was able to continue and finished the race in 4th place.
According to initial information Sexton did not sustain any serious injuries. Even Jason Anderson is not seriously injured and probably has a concussion. Even Ferrandis should not have broken. In case of Cooper Webb however, the all-clear has not yet been given.
Eli Tomato won in the end with a lead of 3.5 seconds Malcolm Stewart (Husqvarna) and Justin Weather in Barcia (GASGAS). Justin Brayton was on P5 best Honda rider and both Suzukis from Bogle/ P8 and hard pant/P9 reached the top 10.
After the failure of Anderson was able to ______ oneself Tomato drop further in the table in Detroit. He now has a clear lead of 42 points ahead Stewart and Anderson, who are tied on the podium with 187 points. Even Weather in Barcia has up P4 back in position and still has a good chance of getting one Podiumsrang.
They’re going next weekend US-Supercrossmeisterschaften in Indianapolis in their 11th round.
