At least seven people, including a Quebecer, died Wednesday in Haiti in the crash of a small commercial plane in the town of Carrefour, near the capital Port-au-Prince.
The device provided the journey between Port-au-Prince and Jacmel, in the south of the country, Carrefour police chief Pierre Belamy told AFP on Saturday.
All five passengers on the plane, including the pilot, died.
In crashing, the aircraft killed a motorbike taxi driver and hit a truck transporting consumer products, seriously injuring five, according to Judge Moïse Jean.
Quebecer Gamaniel Valcin would be among the victims who were on board the plane according to MP Paule Robitaille.
All the injured were taken to hospital.
Prime Minister Ariel Henry said in a tweet “deeply saddened” by the tragedy, addressing “(his) sympathies to the families of the victims”.
Air traffic has greatly increased in Haiti since last year, any safe road traffic to the south of the country being made impossible by clashes between gangs in Martissant, a district of Port-au-Prince crossed by the only road going in that direction.
