In Crans-Montana, there’s no question that the grass is greener elsewhere. Some of the best golfers on the circuit meet on the Haut-Plateau at the end of August, and they must evolve in the best possible conditions. “You have to have an eye for detail,” explains Pascal Schmalen, golf director. While the workers are mounting the scaffolding on which the spectators will enjoy the eighteenth and final hole, the master of the place acts as a guide to show the other works that are taking place on the course. “You will understand why Richard, our greenkeeper (editor’s note: groundskeeper) has no more hair”, slips the boss, smiling, taking the wheel of his cart.
