CPM – CPM clarifies stand on Muslim League issue | Malayalam News, Kerala News | Manorama Online

Thiruvananthapuram ∙ The CPM will take the approach that it welcomed the LDF and not the Muslim League, but their positions. This understanding was in the state secretariat which met yesterday. This stand comes at a time when State Secretary MV Govindan’s statement that the League is not a communal party has become a point of contention within the LDF itself and has given rise to various interpretations.

The previous state secretariat had decided to publicly praise the progressive stances taken by the Muslim League in the recent past, both inside and outside the assembly, including in relation to the governor. After clarifying this, Govindan while answering the questions said that the League is not a communal party but a democratic party working for the minorities. The state secretary of the CPI came out once morest the stance of the CPM praising the League, which is the main opposition party. The League also clarified its position that it is an integral part of the UDF.

The CPM feels that there is no need for a dispute in the LDF over the name of the League. It will continue to point out the stances taken by the League as opposed to the Congress. We will also take the stand that it is our duty to expose the differences in the opposition. It will also be clarified that it is not an invitation to the League to join the LDF. This will also be explained in the discussion with the CPI. Last day, MV Govindan had stated that there is no dispute in this regard, stating that he did not respond to the objection expressed by Kanam. MV Govindan did not meet the media yesterday following the secretariat meeting. The meeting did not consider returning Saji Cherian to the cabinet. The party’s approach is that Saji can come back but there is no rush.
