CPI(M) Protests India’s Abstention from UN Vote on Israel-Hamas Conflict: Solidarity with Palestine

Delhi: CPIM will stage dharna in Delhi today in solidarity with Palestine. The protest will be organized in front of AKG Bhavan, the headquarters of the CPIM Central Committee at 12 noon. The dharna is protesting once morest the central government’s policy of abstaining from voting in the United Nations. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and members of the Central Committee and Polit Bureau will attend. This is a recent protest program by CPIM with the participation of all central leaders.

The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution calling for an end to the Israel-Hamas war. The resolution, which includes a demand for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, was passed by a large majority. The resolution brought by Jordan was supported by 120 countries. 14 countries, including the United States and Israel, disagreed with the resolution. 45 countries including India abstained from voting.

The CPI-CPIM had issued a joint statement once morest India’s abstention from the US General Assembly. Narendra Modi government has made India a slave of America. CPI(M) and CPI(M) said in a joint statement that the move is a rejection of India’s long-standing position of an independent Palestine. Earlier, the CPIM and CPI had raised a similar resolution once morest the central government during the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
