Cowboys beat Titans in NFL

Miami (AFP) – The Dallas Cowboys didn’t shine much, but they did enough to beat the injury-ravaged Tennessee Titans 27-13 on Thursday in the NFL, but with tight end Dalton Schultz with two touchdowns.

With their postseason berth already clinched, the Cowboys remain a long shot at clinching the NFC’s top seed if they can win their final game against Washington and the Philadelphia Eagles lose their last two games.

Despite their sixth straight loss, the Titans can also make the playoffs if they win their last game against the Jacksonville Jaguars and they may well attempt that task with Joshua Dobbs at quarterback.

Dobbs made his first NFL start under the backup of Malik Willis, who has struggled to fill in for injured starter Ryan Tannehill.

A former quarterback at the University of Tennessee, Dobbs has spent five years as a backup in Pittsburgh, Jacksonville and Cleveland, but may have done well enough to have kept his spot for the deciding game in Jacksonville.

Dobbs completed 20 of 39 passes and passed for 232 yards and a touchdown with an interception.

His counterpart, Dak Prescott, threw two interceptions in the first half, continuing a worrisome trend for the Cowboys quarterback, but he kept a level head as he clinched the team’s second-half win.

Prescott, without star running back Tony Pollard, passed for 282 yards and two touchdowns.
