When we learned this week that the Confederation had enough, even too much, of reserves of vaccines once morest Covid-19, the Federal Department of the Interior (DFI) announced Thursday that it had opened an administrative investigation into the purchase of these same vaccines. Federal Councilor Alain Berset informed the National Council’s Finance Commission of possible shortcomings in this file. He announced his intention to quickly make transparency on the commitments made by the Confederation, writes the DFI in a press release.

“Possible shortcomings” were discovered in the context of parliamentary debates on appropriations for the purchase of vaccines. Alain Berset indicated that the purpose of the investigation was to clarify whether all vaccine purchases were covered by appropriations voted by Parliament and whether the contracts stipulated a reserve right of Parliament.

The administrative investigation was entrusted to Kurt Grüter, former director of the Federal Audit Office. The DFI also intends to quickly provide full transparency on the commitments made by the Confederation.
