Nothing alarming, but the figures do indeed show a clear upward trend. Covid, like other seasonal illnesses (flu, bronchiolitis), is affecting more and more patients now ten days before Christmas. The hospitals of Romans and Annonay are also re-imposing compulsory masks.

According to the latest report from the Regional Health Agency, more than a thousand people went to be tested in our two departments at the beginning of December. More than a third of them were contaminated by covid – not counting the self-tests carried out. What is called the positivity rates thus increased by 25% in one week in Drôme and by 13% in Ardèche.

Return of the mask in the hospitals of Romans and Annonay

A Romans-sur-Isèrethe Drôme Nord Hospitals explain that they have been confronted for several weeks with very significant activity both in terms of the number of visits to the emergency room and the occupancy of beds. “A greater activity is usually observed in the winter period with seasonal epidemics (flu, RSV, gastro). Added to this is a significant increase in pathologies linked to COVID: 25 patients diagnosed with COVID are currently hospitalized; this increase has justified the fact that since Wednesday, December 13, the mask has been compulsory for all people presenting themselves in a hospital ward, including visitors” specifies the establishment at France Bleu Drôme Ardèche.

The hospital ofAnnonay has also made masks compulsory everywhere in the establishment since this Thursday. In the laboratory where the tests are analyzed, the increase is “significant”: 24 positives last week compared to 35 positives this week. The hospital of Montélimar is also considering taking the same action.
