Covid, 9th wave: Isolation, sick leave, childcare… What are the new rules in the event of a positive test or contact case?

Faced with the increase in positive cases of the 9th wave of Covid, are you familiar with the rules in force? The Independent takes stock.

With an incidence rate of nearly 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, the 9th wave is clearly here in France and positive cases are increasing steadily in all regions of the country.

Faced with this increase in cases, here is a little reminder of what to do and everyone’s rights as the rules have changed compared to the first waves.

Isolation

Positive people with a complete and up-to-date vaccination schedule and for children under 12 years old, isolation is for 7 (full) days from the date of the onset of symptoms or the date of the collection of the positive test.

However, after 5 days, the positive person can be released from isolation if they have carried out a negative antigen or PCR test or if they have no longer had clinical signs of SARS-CoV-2 infection for 48 hours.

For positive people with an incomplete and unvaccinated vaccination schedule, isolation is 10 days (full) from the date of the onset of symptoms or the date of the collection of the positive test.

The patient can be released from isolation after 7 days in the event of a negative test or without clinical signs of infection for 48 hours.

The authorities indicate that compliance with barrier gestures (wearing a mask and hygiene measures) must be respected for 7 days following the release of the positive case from isolation, regardless of the vaccination schedule.

Case contacts at risk

Since March 21, 2022, contact persons at risk, regardless of their vaccination status, are no longer required to observe a period of isolation but they must strictly apply barrier measures, and in particular the wearing of masks indoors. and outside in contact with other people; limit their contact, in particular with vulnerable people; avoid all contact with people at risk of serious illness and telework as far as possible.

Sick leave

In the event of a positive test, whether you are an employee or a public official, you must declare to Health Insurance that you are staying at home. You do not need to ask your doctor for this and you can complete the declaration online by following this link.
The work stoppage is without waiting period.

child care

Since July 31, 2022, the partial activity scheme for employees who have to look after their child and cannot telecommute has ended.

So if your child under 16 or disabled (regardless of their age) has tested positive and if you have to keep them, you can either telework, in agreement with your employer or take sick child leave.

You must provide a medical certificate confirming your child’s illness to benefit from this leave and send it to your employer as soon as possible.
