The French health authorities have recommended for the first time an anti-Covid vaccine, that of Pfizer / BioNTech, to certain babies aged 6 months to 4 years.

The High Authority for Health (HAS) “recommends expanding as of today (Monday December 19, editor’s note) vaccination against Covid-19 in children aged 6 months to 4 years old at risk of serious form of the disease and death”, she announced in a press release.

The French health authorities have so far only authorized the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccineand above all, have limited it to very specific categories of babies.

These are essentially those who are at risk of serious complications. This includes “children who have one of these comorbidities : congenital heart diseases, chronic liver diseases, chronic heart and respiratory diseases – including severe asthma requiring continuous treatment, neurological diseases, primary or drug-induced immunodeficiency, obesity, diabetes, blood diseases malignancies, sickle cell disease and trisomy 21″, lists the HAS.

Added to this are cases of “recent cancer, chronic kidney disease or neurological disability”.

HAS also recommends vaccinating children aged 6 months to 4 years living in relatives of immunocompromised people or not responding to vaccination.
