Covid-19: the vaccination obligation for caregivers is lifted

In these new recommendations on the vaccination obligations of health professionals, the High Authority for Health (HAS) recommends that vaccination once morest covid-19 should no longer be compulsory but “strongly recommended”. The Minister of Health and Prevention will follow these recommendations, and to this end will engage in consultation with the federations and professional orders to define the implementation framework. The application will require the publication of a new decree.

The High Authority for Health (HAS) has been contacted by the Directorate General for Health in order to update all the vaccination obligations and recommendations for professionals in the health and medico-social sectors. She publishes the first part of her work, which she devotes to vaccines currently subject to compulsory vaccination; i.e. vaccines once morest Covid-19, diphtheria, tetanus, poliomyelitis and hepatitis B. This concerns health professionals, professionals working in health establishments, social and medico-social structures, including those who are in close and repeated contact with young children.

This HAS work was developed on the basis of medical and scientific arguments, without prejudging the additional opinion of the National Advisory Council on Ethics for Life Sciences and Health (CCNE). The Ministry of Health and Prevention has indeed contacted the CCNE on the ethical questions raised by the vaccination obligations of professionals, including their social acceptability and their consequences.

HAS notably took into account epidemiological data, vaccination coverage of the general population and professionals, the availability of vaccines and the latest efficacy and safety data. This work was enriched by the many contributions from stakeholders, resulting from the public consultation organized between February 20 and March 3.

The HAS insists on the fact that the lifting of a vaccination obligation for professionals does not call into question the interest of this vaccination, whether in the professional environment or in the general population..
