The fight once morest Covid-19 is intensifying at the very beginning of 2022. According to a decree published in the Official Journal on January 1, wearing a mask becomes compulsory in certain public places from the age of 6 and no longer at 11 years old as was the case until now.
This concerns in particular performance halls, gymnasiums and sports halls, museums and libraries, but also shopping centers and places of worship. The mask is now compulsory from the age of six in the covered markets. They must also wear it when going to restaurants and cafes.
Transport also concerned
Children must also have their faces covered on public transport, on boats, but also on planes and airports.
In addition, it is still up to the prefects to decide to impose the wearing of the mask outdoors and, here once more, the age from which it is mandatory goes from 11 to 6 years.
Other new measures are also published in the Official Journal of January 1, in particular the installation of gauges, the obligation to offer a seat to spectators of theaters or sports competitions, or the ban on eat in certain places. These restrictions were announced by Jean Castex at the end of the Council of Ministers and the Defense Council which were held last Monday, unlike the extension of the mask from 6 years.
As reported France info, if the Prime Minister had not mentioned this measure – which was nevertheless well arbitrated during the meeting on Monday, assures Matignon – it is because it is not regarding a “major rule change” according to his entourage, especially because children already wear the mask at school from the first grade.
