Some of the existing CoV rules will end tomorrow. This means that the obligation to wear masks, which was in force until recently, is also history in vulnerable areas such as hospitals, old people’s and nursing homes and in doctor’s offices. The risk group exemption is also expiring. At the end of June, the obligation to report a Covid disease will also be a thing of the past.
At the discretion of the doctors
Despite the end of the mask requirement, doctors can still insist that patients and accompanying persons wear an FFP2 mask in the surgery. This might be the case, for example, if people with weak health need to be protected or patients come into the practice with symptoms such as a cough or runny nose, the Medical Association clarified.
The government already decided on the timetable for the end of the CoV measures in the Council of Ministers on February 1st. “The pandemic is going, the virus stays, and we will be able to deal with it,” said Health Minister Johannes Rauch (Greens) at the time.
End of risk group exemption
In addition to the end of the masks, the risk group exemption also ends – this offered protection to those people who had to fear an increased risk of Covid 19 disease due to previous illnesses. So far, the employer has reimbursed 100 percent of the costs for the leave of absence.
From summer no longer subject to registration
Before the summer holidays – on July 1st – SARS-CoV-2 will no longer be a notifiable disease. The traffic restrictions that are still in force for people who have tested positive will then also end. Although infected people do not currently have to be quarantined, they are obliged to wear an FFP2 mask indoors and outdoors when in close contact with other people.
