The Department of Corrections reported 1,429 newly infected inmates and 1 additional death.

Mr. Weerakit Hanpariporn, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Corrections, announced the situation of the spread of COVID-19. Inside prisons and correctional institutions across the country on May 25, 2021, there were 1,429 newly infected inmates, 1 additional death, and 881 people have recovered. There are a total of 15,914 inmates under the care of the Department of Corrections. which are distributed in 13 correctional institutions throughout the country

For one inmate who died, a 52-year-old inmate at Chiang Mai Central Prison was found to be infected with COVID-19 on May 8, 2021 and was undergoing treatment. This inmate had an underlying disease, namely diabetes. High blood pressure have kidney failure Having high levels of fat in the blood vessels

The inmates were then sent for further treatment at Nakornping Hospital on May 11, 2021. Throughout the treatment period, doctors administered medicine according to the procedures for treating COVID-19 disease. to its full potential. During treatment, the Department of Corrections has notified the prisoners’ relatives of the information. Until this morning The inmate died peacefully. The relatives of the inmates have reported their wishes that if there is death or no vital signs are found, Request that the doctor not perform CPR in order for the patient to pass away peacefully.
