On the sidelines of its communication, the national health agency declared that this session, “in particular people aged 65 and over as well as people at risk of serious form“, will start next month: it will be from October 15, 2024. This will be a “joint” vaccination campaign against covid-19 and the flu“.

Santé Publique France reminds at the same time that “some adults (immunocompromised people, patients aged 65 and over with risk factors) can also benefit specific antiviral treatment for COVID-19particularly if they are at increased risk of developing a severe form of the disease.

Call for caution

In its bulletin, SPF announced a “an intensification of the circulation of SARS-CoV-2 which seems to be beginning”, and whose “evolution will need to be monitored vigilantly over the coming weeks”. In this summer/fall transition, “all the indicators for all ages combined was increasing“, whether in the city or in the hospital.

The increase is also particularly present among adults, specifically those aged 65 and over. Finally, this is the JN.1 variant which is “today dominant in France and worldwide”.
