Covid-19: “more possible” swimming pool sessions and contact sports banned at school

School sport is also affected by the pandemic. While the number of people infected with Covid-19 on a daily basis continues to climb, measures have been taken to prevent students from spreading the virus through sports lessons.

Instructions were given to schools to organize physical activities indoors as much as possible. Contact sports are prohibited and wearing a mask is strongly recommended. Team sports can be practiced, provided that the session is adapted. Finally, swimming pool sessions are now prohibited in primary school and strongly discouraged in middle school.

“As soon as indoor sports activities incompatible with wearing a mask are prohibited under the level 3 protocol applicable to schools, indoor swimming pool activities are no longer possible for schoolchildren,” he explained. at schools this Friday morning.

The protocol requires indoor activities “compatible with wearing a mask”

Until now, the instructions for the period from January 3 to 24, 2022 authorized swimming in a swimming pool, but already mentioned this level 3 in primary schools. “This means that physical and sporting activities usually take place outdoors. However, when indoor practice is essential, only low intensity activities compatible with wearing a mask and a distance of two meters are authorized ” writes the ministry.

If this protocol answers the question of schools, that of sports clubs remains open. They are not subject to any special instructions apart from wearing a mask before the sessions for children from 6 years old and the health pass for those following 12 years.
