Covid-19: Ministry of Health monitors subvariants and reinforces vaccination for 2024

O Ministry of Health is monitoring the scenario related to new variants of covid-19 no Brazil. In this sense, the ministry reinforced the importance of vaccination as the main means of protection once morest the disease and released a note addressing the subject:

Plans for 2024 and vaccination of children

The ministry previously stated that it has sufficient stock for pediatric vaccination groups and high-risk populations next year. Likewise, the ministry will have a complete vaccination schedule for children aged 6 months and under 5 years of age with the right to three doses. It is worth noting that anyone over the age of 5 and who is part of the priority groups will receive a booster dose in 2024. The following are part of this group:

  • People with permanent disabilities;
  • Persons deprived of liberty over 18 years of age;

As for the state of Ceará, the state received a boost of 900 antiviral treatments for mild cases of covid-19 for elderly people aged 65 and over, as well as immunosuppressed people aged 18 and over. In addition, another 820 treatments were authorized for shipment. The Ministry of Health said it has been in contact with the authorities to provide support:
