The outbreak of coronavirus activity continues at a frenzied pace, with a constant upward trend, both in terms of new cases, as well as in terms of hospitalizations and deaths. The experts, in fact, point out that this trend is expected to continue throughout the summer and there are no signs of stopping the sweeping course of the virus.
The alarming numbers are reflected in the new weekly report of epidemiological surveillance of respiratory infections published by EODY for the period 8-14 July 2024, according to which a significant increase is observed in all numbers related to the coronavirus.
In more detail, based on data from the COVID-19 registry, of the total of 88,348 laboratory tests carried out, 15% were positive for the presence of the virus, an increased percentage compared to the previous week.
Representative of the alarming spread of the coronavirus is the number of new admissions to the country’s hospitals, which reached 669, three times the number of admissions that occurred in the corresponding period of 2023.
