Public Health France revealed the existence of cases of the new hybrid variant of Delta and Omicron, Deltacron, last week, in France.
As a reminder, the discovery of a hybrid variant, called Deltacron and resulting from the combination of Delta and Omicron, was revealed in early January. And in a report, published in the course of last week, Public Health France announced the detection of ten cases of Deltacron in the country. According to the agency, this recombinant “potentially already circulating at very low levels since mid-January”. The results of “detection during Flash sequencing surveys and the geographic dispersion of cases”, led scientists to this conclusion. In the process, it is indicated that it is necessary to carry out analyzes “complementary” in order to confirm these results.
the Deltacron is currently under increased surveillance. “it is difficult to predict what their characteristics will be in relation to the variants from which they are derived, and therefore their impact on public health in the event of circulation in the population”reports Nicematin.com. As a reminder, the Health Agency of the United Kingdom has identified this recombinant for the first time across the Channel. Deltacron is also identified in Denmark and the Netherlands.
