Covid-19 in France: at the beginning of January, around 30% of pregnant women are unvaccinated – LINFO.re

The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, mentioned last Wednesday the case of unvaccinated pregnant women, recalling the risk of premature delivery.

“22 times more likely to give birth prematurely”

The results of a survey, published Thursday, February 17, revealed that a month ago, 29.8% of pregnant women are not vaccinated at all by not receiving any dose of Covid-19 vaccine. During a press briefing, Olivier Veran considered that this figure is too high in view of the risks involved.
To justify this point of view, the Minister of Health indicated that for unvaccinated pregnant womenthere is “22 times more risk of giving birth prematurely”, “8 times more risk of ending up in intensive care”, or even “5 times more risk of the child going to intensive care”reports Le Figaro.

A high rate of non-vaccination among the youngest pregnant women

At the same time, a preliminary report from the Epi-Phare structure, which collaborates with Health Insurance (Cnam) and the Medicines Agency (ANSM), indicated that as of January 6, 39.4% pregnant women did not receive two doses.
According to this study, the rate of non-vaccination is higher among pregnant women aged 15 to 24 (41.3%). As a reminder, the Council for the Orientation of the Vaccine Strategy (COSV) indicated that since last July, vaccination for pregnant women, who wish to be vaccinated, was possible from the first trimester of pregnancy.
