The High Authority for Health has just given the green light to three anti-Covid vaccines adapted to Omicron. Can I request to receive one of these vaccines? When will they be available?
Vaccines that target Omicron
“The vaccines ARNm bivalents are not new vaccines but vaccines adapted to circulating strains”, underlines the High Authority of Health. She issued a press release on Tuesday, September 21. Two of these bivalent vaccines are developed by Pfizer/BioNTech, the third by Modern. They target Omicron BA.1 et BA.4 for Pfizer’s second vaccine.
Who can benefit from it?
These bivalent vaccines are offered to people who have already received at least one dose of vaccine. They are administered in rappel. HAS has defined the priority people. Those are :
- the people of over 60,
- People at risk of severe form and their entourage,
- the people immunocompromised whatever their age,
- the women pregnantfrom the 1st trimester of their pregnancy,
- children and adolescents at high risk suffering from pathologies justifying it,
Can I request to receive these new vaccines?
HAS recommendsadminister “preferably» one of these bivalent vaccines for the priority people as a fall booster dose. This recommendation is valid regardless of the anti-Covid vaccine initially administered to the person. On the other hand, if you don’t not one of the priority people, the booster vaccine may be the original vaccine. You cannot not choose.
Bivalent vaccines from October 18?
Health authorities have not not communiqué of specific date on vaccination with these bivalent vaccines. People at risk will be able to receive both vaccines on the same day from this date.
