Covid-19: France will lift the obligation of screening tests for vaccinated extra-European travelers

Good news for Moroccan travelers. In a few days, travelers who do not reside in Europe will be able to enter France without presenting a negative PCR test. It will be enough for them just to show their vaccination pass. This was announced by the Secretary of State for European Affairs, Clément Beaune, on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.

“France will lift the requirement for Covid-19 screening tests for all vaccinated extra-European travelers,” he said during his speech on the France 2 channel. “In France, we had added, in December with the Omicron wave, tests. We will announce in the coming days the lifting of tests for vaccinated people,” he adds.

According to Mr. Beaune, “there will probably be a new European practice this week for vaccinated people who come from outside the European Union to have lighter measures”.

So far, any traveler who arrives on French soil from a country outside the European area must imperatively present a negative PCR or antigenic test of less than 48 hours, according to a note published on the website of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Countries such as Denmark or Italy require travelers to have negative tests to enter their territory, even if they are vaccinated.

At the moment, the Quai d’Orsay has not specified whether travelers must have a vaccination pass attesting to two or three doses, nor any conditions depending on the duration between the last injection and the date of travel. Answers that might be provided at the end of the health defense council scheduled for Wednesday, February 16.
