COVID 19. Brittany: update on the health situation

Here is the update on the evolution of the health situation linked to the coronavirus epidemic in Brittany, communicated by the ARS this Tuesday evening (this point is established every 15 days):

“Across the region as a whole, the circulation of the covid-19 virus is still declining significantly. This decline is also reflected in the hospital.

However, the virus is still present. The vaccination effort must therefore be maintained, in particular with the second booster dose in eligible persons:

– People over the age of 60;

– adults aged 18 to 60, identified as being at risk of a severe form of Covid-19;

– pregnant women, from the 1stis trimester of pregnancy;

– people living close to or in regular contact with vulnerable or immunocompromised people.

Talk to your doctor, pharmacist or nurse.

At the same time, it is essential to keep the right reflexes:

– favor outdoor activities;

– ventilate the premises regularly;

– wear a mask in closed places with a high concentration of the population and in transport;

– test themselves at the slightest symptom and in the event of a positive result, notify their relatives and respect their isolation

Epidemiological point

Brittany records 13 438 new positive cases since August 2.

The incidence rate2 now rises at 190 cases per 100,000 inhabitants (– 240.3 points1) at the regional level with a positivity rate3 RT-PCR and antigen tests of 26,2 %.

Care of Covid-19 patients in hospital in Brittany :

· 327 hospitalizations for COVID reasons in progress (- 951), dont

o 19 in the intensive care unit (- 31)

o 236 in conventional medicine (- 881)

· since the beginning of the epidemic:

o 23 907 hospitalized patients returned home (+5451) ;

o 3 121 patients died (+461).

Screening dynamics

In Brittany :

· 30,050 (RT-PCR and antigens) were performed between 7 and 13 August.

1-Data compared to 02/08/2022

2-The incidence rate represents the number of new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed by a PCR or antigen test that have occurred during the last 7 days compared to the number of inhabitants of the department. The unit adopted is per 100,000 inhabitants.

3-The positivity rate represents the number of positive cases for Covid (PCR and antigen test) compared to the number of people tested, over 7 days«
