Last week, Covid-19 cases saw a slight uptick from the previous week. Indeed, for the period from January 7 to 13, 2023, 28 new cases confirmed by tests were recorded in Madagascar. This, out of a total of 449 tests carried out, i.e. a positivity rate of 6.23%. These cases are located mainly in the Analamanga region where 20 cases out of 28 have been recorded. The rest is located in the Itasy, Vakinankaratra, Matsiatra Ambony, DIANA, Atsinanana and Atsimo-Andrefana regions. Thus, the number of regions once more affected by Covid-19 rose to 7, compared to only 2 regions affected the previous week. During the same period from January 7 to 13, 39 active cases were identified, including 5 serious cases. However, no deaths linked to Covid-19 have been recorded. The total number of deaths linked to Covid-19 thus remains at 1,418.
Summary data shows 67,788 confirmed cases of Covid-19 in Madagascar in just under three years, of which 66,331 have been declared cured, representing a cure rate of 97.85%. The total number of tests performed is 523,557.
