COVID-19: 11 additional deaths in Chaudières-Appalaches, including three in Beauce

The regional public health report reports 11 new deaths attributable to COVID-19 since last Friday in Chaudière-Appalaches, including three in Beauce.

Of the three people who died here, two lived in the MRC Beauce-Sartigan and one in the MRC de la Nouvelle-Beauce.

In addition, this morning’s data (January 24) for Saint-Georges Hospital indicates that there are 32 people with COVID-19 in regular care units (+5) and one in intensive care ( -2), for a total of 33.

Here is what the portrait was like in the three other hospitals in Chaudière-Appalaches:

– Hôtel-Dieu de Lévis: 39 in care units, 8 in intensive care, for a total of 47

– Thetford Mines Hospital: 7 in care units, 2 in intensive care, for a total of 9

– Montmagny Hospital: 11 in care units, none in intensive care, for a total of 11

REGIONAL GRAND TOTAL for the four hospitals: 89 in care units, 11 in intensive care, for a total of 100

Vaccination
Regarding vaccination in the region, the report indicates that since January 17, 38,675 doses of vaccine have been administered in Chaudière-Appalaches for a total of 901,859 doses administered to date.

This represents vaccination coverage for the first dose of 83.1% of the population of Chaudière-Appalaches. The vaccination coverage of adequately vaccinated people (who received their 2nd dose or who had COVID as well as their single dose) is 78%.

Staff Regulations – 24 January
For the number of employees absent due to COVID, as of this morning of January 24, 2022, there are 493 employees withdrawn from work, 98 of whom remain teleworking. Of these 493 employees absent as of January 24, 2022, 339 are confirmed positive for COVID. The others are in isolation due in part to close contacts at home, in the community or at work. In total, 21 more employees are back at work today compared to the day before.

Separately, 193 asymptomatic COVID+ workers have been brought back to work so far, 10 more than on January 23.

Data for Quebec
The most recent data on the evolution of COVID-19, for the last 24 hours, in Quebec, show:

– 2,807 new cases, for a total of 838,437 people infected*;
– 52 new deaths, for a total of 12,851 deaths;
– 3,299 hospitalizations, an increase of 16 from the previous day; 254 new entries, 238 new releases;
– 263 people in intensive care, a decrease of 10 people compared to the previous day; 21 new entries, 31 new releases;
– 27,290 samples taken on 22 January.

In terms of vaccination, 65,123 doses administered are added, ie 62,562 in the last 24 hours and 2,561 before January 23, for a total of 17,165,403 doses administered in Quebec.

Outside Quebec, a total of 268,018 doses were administered, for a cumulative total of 17,433,421 doses received by Quebecers.
