Strike from Wednesday to Friday

The GDL founded this cooperative called Fair Train in the summer. GDL – employer or union?
Deutsche Bahn sees a conflict of interest in the cooperative: From the group’s perspective, the GDL acts as both an employer and a union. That is why the railway recently filed a lawsuit against the GDL before the state labor court in Hesse. The railway company Transdev did the same there. And from the perspective of the Frankfurt Labor Court, the GDL is allowed to strike on rail transport in Germany from Wednesday. The court rejected Transdev’s attempted preliminary injunction against the strike on Monday in the first instance, it announced in the evening. The presiding judge explained that the mere allegation that the company was financially overwhelmed was not enough to prohibit a strike.
GDL trade unionist Weselsky criticized the lawsuit on Sunday as a “smoke gun” and rejected the accusation. It shows “the desperation of a socially alienated employer who is not afraid of any means, no matter how absurd, to eliminate the strong GDL”.
