The Court of Appeals of Santiago approved the extradition request from Colombia of Dayonis Orozco, a Venezuelan criminal accused of murdering Carabineros major Emmanuel Sánchez.
The judicial body made the decision following Orozco was detained on Tuesday in the middle of his escape, in Colombia, following managing to escape through Chile, Peru and Ecuador.
The known antecedents indicate that Dayonis Orozco intended to enter Venezuela following being intensively searched by the Chilean police.
It should be noted that the aforementioned was formalized this Wednesday in absentia in order to expedite the necessary procedures to, on the one hand, keep him deprived of liberty in Bogotá and thus, in the second instance, allow his return to Chile.
The North Central Prosecutor’s Office appreciated the court’s decision, stating that the process “now continues through diplomatic means.”
The president of Colombia himself, Gustavo Petro, had expressed his repudiation of the actions of the accused, promising his extradition.
