In the context of the #Metoo hospital, the matter has gained momentum. In Limoges (Haute-Vienne), the administrative court has just required the reinstatement of a fifth-year medical student who had been suspended by the university hospital where he was on an internship. This 26-year-old man was convicted by the Tours court and admitted to several sexual assaults, citing a drunken evening. He was given a five-year suspended prison sentence. The prosecution appealed this decision, following requesting a prison sentence which was not accepted. The student had applied to the administrative court to request his reinstatement within the oncology department in which he was on internship. What he got, reports France Bleu Limousin.
This decision angered students at the university. Gathered within the Emma Auclert collective, they stuck posters on the walls of the university with this message: “Today your rapist, tomorrow your doctor”. The members of the collective believe that “this type of conviction is not compatible with the profession of doctor”. They demand the opening of disciplinary investigations.

According to a study by the National Association of Medical Students of France (ANEMF), nearly one in two students (49.7%) say they have already received a sexist remark during their internship. More than one in three (38.4%) say they have been the victim of sexual harassment, and 6% of sexual assault. “We are receiving more and more testimonies from interns, but they under no circumstances want to do so in writing or file a complaint, for fear of sanctions,” recently testified Margot Martinez, president of the Parisian Representative Union of General Medicine Interns ( SRP-IMG) from 20 Minutes.
