Couple Arrested Who Led Police Chase in DC – NBC Washington DC (44)

Fairfax County Police have identified the couple who led a police pursuit into the wrong direction of traffic near Tysons Thursday afternoon.

Marquse Lucas, 24, of DC, and Benea Smith, 32, of DC, face multiple charges, including robbery with a firearm and child endangerment, according to authorities.

The couple allegedly stole Tide brand detergent products from a Safeway on Georgetown Pike in Great Fall around 12:30 pm and pointed a gun at the store manager who tried to stop them.

Lucas and Smith allegedly fled in a silver Honda with a child in the back seat.

After the police tried to stop them, a chase broke out on several streets and highways in the Tysons area.

Video recorded from an apartment building captured how the suspects at one point directed the police on Route 7 against the road.

Police patrol cars blocked exits to try to stop the Honda, and it eventually stopped on Interstate 495 near Lewinsville Road.

The minor is safe and with his caregivers.

Lucas and Smith are being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. Police said they also had outstanding warrants for theft in Prince William County.
