Puy-Foot 43 showed a very good face but it was not enough during this quarter-final of the Coupe de France.
The film of the match between Le Puy-Foot 43 once morest Rennes in the quarter-final of the Coupe de France
Puy-Foot 43 played a historic match. And the players were up to the challenge, as was the public. A meeting in an atmosphere worthy of great evenings. The match started in the right way for Stéphane Dief’s men.
Unfortunately, the scenario is not favorable to the Ponots. From a corner, Bourigeaud found Teate’s header who opened the scoring (9′). Behind, the blues will suffer and have a big slump. But they resist. And gradually, Puy-Foot 43 takes the reins of the match and makes the Bretons tremble several times.
Bennedine, Akkal or Meyer have the ammunition to equalize. But it lacks success in the last gesture. At the break, we remained at 1-0, which leaves all hopes for the future.
But the second half mightn’t have started worse… Two minutes following the restart Akkal was guilty of a foul in the area. Penalty, converted by Bourgieaud (47′ 0-2).
Stéphane Dief’s players are getting back on track and they are finding their game, their fluidity, their technique. And it pays off! At game time, the Ponots reduced the score through Adinany… formed Rennes. A well-deserved goal given what Le Puy has been offering since the kick-off.
While the Ponots put Rennes in doubt, it was, unfortunately, the Bretons who increased the score at the end of a well-crafted action concluded with a double from Bourigeaud (82′ 1-3). Realism and experience have paid off but Rennes is doing very well.
Puy-Foot 43 comes out of the Coupe de France but leaves this competition with its head held high with a very good performance to end the adventure.
