Coupe de France: Nantes invites itself to the last four

The last qualifier for the semi-finals is now known, so it will be Nantes. The 10th in Ligue 1 won (2-0) at La Beaujoire once morest Bastia, 17th in Ligue 2 and the struggle not to go down. He will receive Monaco on March 2 (8:45 p.m.). The Corsicans, who had previously beaten two Ligue 1 clubs, Clermont (2-0) and Reims (1-1, 5-3 on goal), failed to make it three.

The Ile de Beauté club had been waiting for almost six years to the day to beat Nantes. At the time, the Corsican club was still playing in Ligue 1, before being demoted to National 3 for economic reasons. The very quick opener from Ludovic Blas, the captain, on a penalty (3′), stings the Bastiais, who touch the post of Descamps (27′). The Nantes goalkeeper multiplies the stops and allows his team to maintain their meager advantage at the break.

Bastia is still pushing and Régis Brouard, his coach, brings in his attackers. But nothing helps. The Canaries take off even when Randal Kolo Muani scores his 9th goal of the season, in all competitions (2-0, 71st). Twenty-two years following the legendary opposition once morest Calais (2-1, doubled by Antoine Sibierski), Nantes is only one step away from playing a new final.

There will therefore be three Elite clubs in the last four. Versailles (N2), the surprise guest, will have the heavy task of trying to bring down Nice, the current 3rd in Ligue 1. See you in just under three weeks to find out the poster for the Stade de France.
