A small revolution. According to information from the site BeBasket , Friday March 15, the French Basketball Federation approved the modification of the format of the Coupe de France. This new formula should be applied from the 2024-2025 financial year, with some notable changes.

Home field advantage for weaker teams

First, the leaders of the federation in charge of the competitions agreed on the return of the points handicap linked to a possible division gap (the Robert Busnel trophy bringing together teams from Betclic Élite, Pro B and Nationale 1, and possibly the winner of the Coupe de France amateur trophy).

Furthermore, it was also decided that the teams playing in the lower divisions will systematically receive each round.

However, uncertainty remains to this day around the top 8 of the Coupe de France, organized since 2018 in Maine-et-Loire. Indeed, the Federation is normally still engaged for one more season with the Arena Loire, which would amount to withdrawing the advantages of the field from the quarter-finals.

While waiting for a possible Final Four to take place in Bercy, coaches, players and Cup lovers will have to be content with these first announcements.
